“I hate to think what could have happened had I not glanced out the window when I did,” Vincent murmured into the hair of the young man sitting on his lap. “Whatever possessed you to climb up there?”

“I-I just wanted to help our n-neighbours put up their Christmas lights,” Kadyn hitched, squirming to take the pressure of his sore bottom.

“You are going to have to learn to think things through, Kadyn. We’ve been over this before,” Vincent mildly scolded.

“Well I certainly never planned for the ladder to fall over, now did I?” Kadyn offered in his defence.

“You might have known it was a possibility. Next time, ask for help. You know every time you put yourself in danger like that, you will be spanked.”

“I still say you don’t have to spank so hard!” Kadyn pointed out and pouted when his complaint merely garnered an exasperated but loving smile.

“It just shows how much I love you, sweetheart.” Vincent kissed the still wet cheek. “No more hanging about, right?”

About our Characters:

Vincent LaMaur is the oldest son of Marie and George La Maur of Vancouver. He is very close to his family. He has one sister, Julie, and one brother, Daniel. After completing secondary school he attended the University of British Columbia, studying for a degree in Library Science. For several years after graduating, he worked in a public library. He finally decided at thirty years of age that it was time to follow his dream and open a bookstore, The BookMarket, in Jade Heights.

Vincent knew he was gay from the age of fifteen. When he told his family that he was gay they were not pleased as they knew it could be hard for him, but accepted it with a minimum of fuss.

He’s had a few relationships but nothing serious. He would like to settle down with the right man; one willing to follow his lead. While he is loving, he also can be strict when the need arises, which is exactly what Kadyn needs.

Kadyn Webster Hart was born and raised in Jade Heights and is the youngest of four children and the second son of Samuel and Mariah Hart. His mother owns a hair salon and his father a small convenience store which he will some day hand over to Kadyn. His siblings married and moved to the city, two hundred miles away. But they visit regularly with their families to maintain the closeness the Harts had built over the years.

Kadyn attended school maintaining slightly below average grades and was not inclined to further his education. He was constantly getting into mischief, both at home and at school; his behaviour in church not much better. At times, he was the bane of his mother’s existence but always the sparkle in his father’s eye.

He is honest, friendly and hard working, mischievous, impetuous, a follower…particularly if there is fun involved. He is usually even-tempered but is capable of throwing an impressionable tantrum.

He is also badly in need of a good Top. That is, until at the tender age of eighteen when he meets Vincent with whom he discover a lot about himself during the three and a half wonderful years they had together.

Several months after Vincent leaves, Kadyn realizes he still desparately wants and needs a Top. Good news! Someone new comes on the scene to take Vincent's place.
